Hello! My name is Alex Wilcox, and I recently graduated with a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Northeastern University in Boston. I am now a full-time Machine Learning Engineer at Empallo, an MIT-based startup that provides an AI platform for cardiovascular management and trials.
My master’s coursework encompassed topics relating to machine learning, computer networking, computer systems, web application development, and computer algorithms, among other areas. To supplement my studies, I volunteered as a graduate research assistant at Northeastern University’s Mon(IoT)r Research Group throughout the course of 2022, where I contributed to a project which studied the surreptitious monitoring patterns that popular commercial IoT devices use. Prior to my graduate work, my undergraduate studies were in mathematics and economics, also at Northeastern University.
My academic and professional interests encompass topics such as machine learning, systems-related programming, network architecture and protocols, algorithmic optimization, software engineering, mathematics, statistics, IoT devices, geopolitics, and advanced data analytics. I am also eager to use and improve my computer science skills to help solve challenging problems.
Some personal interests and hobbies of mine include working on programming projects, reading, history, international relations, and cooking.
